I see merchandise everywhere as people get ready for the grand holiday of Love; Valentine’s Day. This day is designed to lavish love on the one you love most; who will that be for you? Those of us who are dating have most likely been feverishly looking online to see what they can spend on their significant other. You may be looking for that right outfit to purchase and some, if I can be brutally honest, are looking for the best lingerie, renting a hotel room or gateway and planning on making it the most romantic night to remember.
Now if I may be honest again, how many of us are doing all these things, not for a husband or wife, but instead for a person we want to give husband privileges to, like a boyfriend and wifey privileges like a girlfriend? In a culture that is so sexually driven we look at having morals as being old fashioned, we look to social media to provide an image of what our marriages & relationships should look like, even creating a hastag #Relationshipgoals which portray an attractive man or woman together, or couples of power.
However, I am here to tell you the best and only relationship goal we should have is with our Savior, our God and our beloved Groom, Jesus Christ. Most see God as a Holy Deity that we have to fear. Man has come to the knowledge of seeing God as our Father but very few have come to know God through his Son as our groom and “We” His children are His bride, not the church. The Lord is returning for His bride so very soon. So this Valentine’s Day you may ask how to put all former thoughts and feelings aside and come to know Him as your beloved groom, well here are some pointers below:
1 Corinthians 6:19
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
Keeping our bodies as a Holy temple for it is the dwelling place of God. Isn’t that amazing the Creator of the universe, the living God dwells in you by His Holy Spirit! So don’t even think to profane your temple with sexual sin of any kind, with dressing your temple to entice or induce others into lusting after what is not yours in the first place. You were purchased with a price, such a precious price; the blood of Jesus and what a precious temple you are to your groom. I mean if you think about it, would you sleep with another man/woman right before you get married? Most people would say of course not! Then keep your temple pure as a sweet smelling fragrance for your groom as He eagerly awaits to be reunited with you. Yes. Jesus Christ our Savior is in eager anticipation to finally see you face to face and to behold His beautiful bride! So get dressed for Him instead, put the finest outfit and best perfume to prepare a night of intimacy with your groom!
Song Of Solomon 1:3
Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out. No wonder the young women love you!
Keep your heart pure for Him alone.
If you’re single is your mind occupied with the following questions: Why don’t I have a man/woman? When is he/she coming? Why hasn’t he/she texted me to hang out?
If you’re in a relationship, you may be thinking of your significant other on how they make you laugh, why you love them so much, can’t wait for all the romantic things to happen that night, if he will propose this time (for my ladies) lol etc.
None of those thoughts are pure! We all yearn for deep fellowship, companionship and completion but, do you know that the only one who can complete us is Jesus himself. That longing you have that no other thing can satisfy was placed there by Him because He wanted us to realize how much we need Him and in honesty how much He yearns for that. Do you know we were all created from the heart of God and until you return to Him, there is a longing, a hole in His heart that NO ONE ELSE but, you can complete in Him. Isn’t that so amazing, wow that’s how much you mean to Him and that’s how much He looongs for you! So what things do you have in the throne of your heart? Could be your children, career, dreams, spouse, money, your past memories or lust of this world. There are so many things. Ask Him to clean out your heart and make your heart a home for your groom who loves to be adored by you, loves to be sung too, loves to be talked too and loves to be worshiped by you with your WHOLE HEART. So fill your heart with Him and He alone, begin to create an atmosphere of worship in your heart because that is the throne room of your temple!
Song Of Solomon 2:14
My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.
Lastly, spend all the time you can with Jesus. You see last year I told the Lord you know what, I just want to love on you so you are my Valentine. I told Him to close His eyes and His ears to all that I wanted to surprise Him with on that day, like He could do that lol but, you never know. I had made it in my mind that I wanted to wear a red dress and asked Him what was His favorite way He liked my hair and I felt very strongly that He liked it when it was curly. So I went to the store the day before our intimate night and low and behold as I walked in there was one red dress left. I didn’t even try it on because I knew it was from Him. I was a little upset that He opened his ears to what I wanted because I wanted it to be a surprise for Him, lol. I requested for the attendance of Abba Father, Holy Spirit and Jesus. Then I did my makeup, my hair and I purchased the Bethel “We Will Not Be Shaken” Concert DVD. When I walked out of the bathroom into the empty living room dressed up ready to worship, my stomach was twisted in knots of butterflies as if I was finally seeing the man of my dream. Immediately I knew that His presence was there, I can’t even explain it, was the most beautiful amazing experience I ever had. I just knew they were all there on the couch dressed in their best to watch their daughter, their bride sing to them. Later that evening my sister joined me and broke down in tears because of the presence of the Lord. He is soooo amazing (sigh) so this Valentine’s day. I say all this to challenge you to do the same. The Lord yearns for His bride like never before because He is soon returning to take those who are waiting for Him, who know Him, and who are ready to be a bride of Christ!
Song Of Solomon 7:10
I belong to my beloved, and his desire is for me.
